Coming together for a common goal
Posted January 30, 2014on:
This week many of you participated in Parade’s soap poll.
There are a few takeaways from this that we’d like to point out:
1. It is impossible to get a true sense of the public’s opinion on the best soap opera in history when you have people voting in odd brackets and allowed to vote multiple times. (Y&R who dominates in the ratings was eliminated after round 1.)
2. NBC stepped up and supported their show by posting on their official social media about the poll and urging their fans to vote.
(Where was ABC and PP? Yep, nowhere to be found.)
3. Even though AMC is not currently in production their fanbase took out popular GH.
And OLTL made it to the final round.
Networks, advertisers, and investors should take note at this strong and loyal fanbase as it is a lucrative thing.
So, let’s be proud of the showing our beloved shows did in this crazy poll but not get too caught up in it.
At the end of the day this showed us that we fans can unite together and that these shows are still desired.
Now, let’s remind ABC.
Email ABC and clue them in once again that AMC beat GH in a head to head battle and OLTL made it to the final round, becoming “2nd best soap in history.” Let them know that NBC stepped up and encouraged fans to help their soap become the winner as best soap opera in history. Where were you ABC? Are you saying that you don’t care about the millions who tune into GH each day? How badly would you like to have the millions of viewers that would come with bringing AMC and OLTL back?
