Who is deserving of The Kennedy Center Honors?
Posted June 5, 2013on:
No one more so than our dear Agnes Nixon!!
I came across this post on Vincent Irizarry’s FB page regarding the award and couldn’t have said it better myself so I am just going to post it as he did…..
Please read, everyone, regarding Agnes Nixon! Someone sent me this link this morning on Twitter to submit a recommendation for the next Kennedy Center Honors, awarded by the President each year to those who have committed their lives in excellence for the arts. Last year’s honorees were Dustin Hoffman, Led Zeppelin, David Letterman, Buddy Guy, and Natalia Makarova. I’ve already submitted my choice for AGNES NIXON, truly one of the great storytellers of our time, and pioneer of broadcasting in television, who has recently transitioned successfully, once again as a pioneer, from TV to New Media with the new incarnations of both “All My Children” & “One Life to Live” for the internet. Join me in supporting our great national treasure, Agnes Nixon, by submitting your own recommendation for her to receive this illustrious honor. This could be our collective thank you to Ms. Nixon for all the years of joy she has brought to countless millions of us; throughout the many generations. Very few could possibly deserve it more… Go to: http://www.kennedy-center.org/programs/specialevents/honors/

For those of you who weren’t on last night and missed it
I want to address something real quick, you may or may not have heard about the labor dispute between the union and PP. Because of this dispute the shows have gone on hiatus 11 days early. They were set to go dark on the 17th but will now go dark tomorrow.
Prospect Park has stated “As a result of a dispute with the I.A.T.S.E., The OnLine Network is beginning a long-planned hiatus for both ‘All My Children’ and ‘One Life To Live’ tomorrow instead of June 17. The hiatus is scheduled to end on August 12 pending resolution of this labor issue. Right now we have 40 episodes of each show ready to post through September, and if we can resolve this issue by August, we can get back into the studio on time so audiences will enjoy uninterrupted postings of their favorite shows.
We believe we have met all contract requirements with I.A.T.S.E, and as an internet start-up, and per our contract with the I.A., we cannot afford, and our business model cannot sustain, traditional broadcast rates.
The writers, directors, actors and rest of crew have been supportive of the shows and our success. Both ‘One Life To Live’ and ‘All My Children’ consistently earn top rankings on both Hulu and iTunes since launch just over a month ago. The popularity of the shows is matched by the continued passion and excitement from the fans. We are committed to these shows, and to the nearly 300 jobs they produce, thus we are exploring every legal and logistical option to maintain our production schedule.”
They have been upfront and honest, not trying to hide anything from the union so I believe all will be resolved so do not freak out! You know as well as I do this is going to set off all the bad mouthing and negativity towards PP even though they have done nothing wrong so if you see negativity out there among the groups try to get a few positive comments in, Now is not the time for fans to take support away from the shows, stand strong soap fans, all shall be resolved!
